Architecture

In broad terms and in principle, architecture—and, more specifically, enterprise architecture—is a "top-down" discipline that builds on the cornerstones of business, information, and technology. Binary understands that effective architecture solutions require all three critical components in order to interoperate in support of the business strategy.

Good enterprise architecture does not happen in a vacuum, but is one of several strategic planning disciplines that organizations should practice to align their technology with their business goals. To that end, Binary's enterprise architects work to keep communication open between all project team members. Before an enterprise architecture solution is implemented, we make sure that guidelines, standards, and future scalability are embedded into the decision-making processes of the organization.

As a result, all other planning disciplines of the enterprise—IT strategic planning, IT portfolio management, enterprise program management—have relationships with the enterprise architecture and operate as part of the business value chain.

Binary's architecture team developed and published a baseline report on the technology components used to support Military Sealift Command's IT infrastructure, as well as a technology architecture concept of operations. The reports will assist MSC in making critical IT decisions.
