Financial

During the past decade, technological challenges and unscrupulous business behavior necessitated greater scrutiny and business practice changes in the financial industry. Tightened industry and government regulations led to drastic increases in the volume, complexity, and importance of financial information, further complicated by the increased number of mergers and intensified competition.

As a result, the financial industry has been forced to embrace advanced technology as a means of changing how information is created, distributed, stored, shared, and applied to new or existing business practices. Financial organizations turn to Binary to develop sophisticated, integrated software while providing consulting services to update systems and improve processes. We have facilitated the consolidation of systems, processes, and information for our customers to ensure increased efficiency.

Examples of Work

Army PO GFEBS

The Program Officer, General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) is a component of the Army PEO-EIS tasked with developing a common system for providing one authoritative source of the Army's financial management information. The system is a web-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution that leverages commercial off-the-shelf business enterprise software to enable the Army to compile and share accurate, up-to-date financial and accounting data across the service. Binary's team serves as the program management office (PMO) contractor to support the management and oversight requirements for the program.

Fannie Mae

At Fannie Mae, Binary led the architecture and development for migration and enhancement of a web-enabled, online registration system and mentored the team on Java and J2EE technology. We also developed and integrated the e-mail and credit card systems for the Instant Pre-Approval (IPA) consumer web application for pre-approval of home loans, and distributed security framework for Fannie Mae's Shared Security Service. Binary also led the analysis, development, and integration of reusable enterprise software components for Fannie Mae. We adapted an industry best practice requirements engineering methodology to elicit an accurate "as-is" picture of existing enterprise software assets. Additionally, Binary Group led the implementation of the company's component repository management system.
