Network Engineer
Job Description
Provide technical expertise as a team member and individual contributor in the development and operational support of the Binary's systems and services.
Design, test and deploy new or enhanced Windows and Web (and optionally, UNIX-based) servers including resident software services.
Design, implement and operate highly reliable and feature-rich servers and network infrastructure. Responsible for maximizing server reliability, availability, and performance.
Evaluate and identify ways to automate, streamline and improve the day-to-day server maintenance and administrative practices. Analyze and evaluate the Binary’s hardware, software, and network architecture design to determine and recommend enhancements.
Provide technical advice and recommendations to the CTO to assist in defining Binary’s automation needs and objectives.
Perform server troubleshooting and triage during service failure scenarios and participate in detailed investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
Ensure effective and efficient server maintenance and operations workflow and practices to help improve availability and performance of systems and dependent environments.
Provide hardware and software support for Windows Server 2003/2008, and optionally VMWare ESX (and optionally Redhat Linux) operating system environments.

level troubleshooting support for Active Directory, IIS, Sharepoint (and optionally Exchange and SQL) Servers.
Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of data recovery procedures and practices.
Research technological advancement and their application to current and future organizational needs.
Conduct comprehensive data security assessments and provide for network security through hardware and/or software solutions.
Required to keep abreast of new technologies and become proficient in their use, either by formal or self-training, as required. This may include keeping up with current technical news by following trade magazines, Internet sites, etc. These technologies include but are not limited to software languages, scripting techniques, database management system architecture trends, Internet protocols, and operating systems.
Analyze and research procurement needs relating to the purchase of new server hardware and dependent accessories including software utilities and backup tapes.
Create and maintain systems documentation.
May be required to train division trainers and/or end users in the use of the new systems or system modifications, as required.
All other duties as required, including Help Desk, Desktop & Mobile Computing Support.
Skills/Requirements
In-depth understanding of Windows Server 2003/2008 operating systems including the ability to perform essential planning, configuration, management and troubleshooting of operating system installations.
Capable of intense analysis of the operating system to troubleshoot a problem or system crash.
Solid understanding of networking and multi-tiered architectures.
Thorough knowledge of LAN/WAN internetworking technologies with strong network troubleshooting skills needed to track down misconfigurations and performance problems.
Working knowledge of web applications, web servers, application servers, mail services, directory services, naming services, and storage systems.
Strong understanding of all server applications and services involving both nationally-created products as well as locally-developed applications.
Ability to configure and support system and network security measures.
Working knowledge of storage management, backups and data replication.
Capable of writing administrative tools through windows and/or shell scripting, if needed.
Provide recommendations to capacity planning and system load requirements.
Leadership experience in complex technical environment and proficient with a wide variety of computer technologies.
Demonstrated document management (i.e, Sharepoint) systems technology a plus.
Extensive experience with Active Directory, IIS, FileNet IS 4.x, (and optionally SQL Server 2000/2005 databases) highly desired.
Excellent problem solving, analytical and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Must hold technical certifications in networking, operating systems, and/or Microsoft server services within 90 days of hiring
BS in Computer Science or related field highly preferred.
Self-motivated, able to operate autonomously in a dynamic, fluid environment.
Strong communicator, able to interact with senior executives as well as daily customer interactions.
